Jesse, tell the truth
Ok, so you lost your job. And for the past 9 months you have been looking for work. You are the soul bread winner in your home and you have three kids and one on the way. The only job that you know you can get is the one where you have to get up at 4:00 in the morning, wait in a line for someone to tell you where your skills are needed for the next 12 hours. At the end of the week you get a check for only $325.00 after working 60 hours.
Do you take it? Most likely not. Why? Because it's beneath you.
But the man who speaks no English, who is desperate to make a life for his family, says I will do it. Knowing that he is being paid less than the kid who works at the fast food joint by his house.
He leaves before dark and return after dark. All because he will do what ever it takes to put food on his table and a roof over his families head.
So, Mr. Jackson, again, why are you upset about the comment Mexico's President Vicente Fox made. The truth is, there are jobs here that no one wants, including our people. Let's not get made at the truth. Rather let's make the truth a lie.
Black women don't want to be maids, anymore. Our men are not very likely to wait in line to see if they are going to find work. Let's admit we will turn down a job, that does not merit our pay expectation, just as fast as our white counterparts.
So the truth, Jesse, Mexican immigrants are working the jobs in many cases that not even blacks are willing to work. By the way, do Mexicans get made when people say, "they are coming over here and taking our jobs"?
