Who's paying for the cost

Who would have thought that this whole immigration issue would have blown up this big! Yet it has been a ticking time bomb for years.

For years Mexicans have made the migration from Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana and other southern states to the great North to do the summer harvesting that once belong to young black teens and those who needed to make a few dollars to hold them over. No one complained.

But now, it's a different story. Why? The cost of illegals has become more than what American citizens can handle. No doubts that Mexicans (and other illegal workers) have done the work that once where appreciated by the forgotten poor. However, the American Dream has become more accessible to the once lower class. But the tax dollars that are spent to give illegal the American Dream has become a burden.

Because it's the American way, these illegals are given education, health care, jobs, housing to name a few. But what do they contribute to the American Institution that they so idealized back in their home country? Do they pay taxes, invest in the financial institutions or spend the bulk of their income here in America?

Everyone has a right to freedom - but there is a cost. Who is supposed to pay for it?

I think both sides should carefully look at the problem. There are those who come from distant countries seeking asylum because of death threats or injustice. But often they are turned away because someone already spent their share of the American pie. Mexicans are not the only immigrants, but they have made this debate about them and their needs. However, it's bigger than them - and I think that it is wise for them to remember that.

Those from Mexico and Latin America should follow the same process of obtaining residency as those from Asia, Africa and Europe. Or face the penalty of being deported. Is it wrong for Mexicans or other Americans (because South America is America) to live in the USA? Not at all. But please do it the right way. And while your here remember we have to all share in the cost of us being an American or reaping the benefits of being a resident. We need all people to make this country what it is, and we need all people to help make this country what it is.
